Open Road

mapsouthRoad trip south for business meetings in California, combined with touring and camping along the way, visiting family and friends. The wide open sky and limitless freedom on the road feels good!

I’ve made the trip south on Interstate 5 many times and that route is now profoundly boring.  This time around I have a little extra time and will try something a little different.  I’ve plotted a route through the middle of Oregon.  Instead of heading south from Seattle I’ll head southeast on Interstate 90 traversing Snoqualmie Pass and then descending into Eastern Washington and the dry plains of that region.

First stop Yakima.  It was hot and I found a nice place to enjoy an iced tea.

I camped overnight at Maryhill State Park and visited the “Stonehenge” War Memorial that night.

The next morning began at Maryhill, followed by a drive south through Bend, Oregon with an overnight stay at Lakeview, Oregon in a hotel.

Saturday morning I pressed on to Eagle Lake in California, with a brief stop in Alturas.
